Volunteer Opportunities

GCLL is a non-profit organization, run by volunteers. Our league serves over 400 children in the Juneau Douglas community. It takes a lot of teamwork to run this league efficiently and effectively. Our board members are working year-round, while many others give a lot of time between March and June.

Our league is typically short on volunteers.  We realize and appreciate that some families and individuals have more time to give than others. That's why there are a wide variety of things to volunteer for.

Below is a list of many of our volunteer opportunities however if you have a special skill or idea you would like to bring to our league, please don't be shy to bring it to our attention!

Volunteer Requirements

All local Little Leagues are required to conduct background checks on managers, coaches, board of directors members and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams. Individuals are also required to complete and submit a Little League Volunteer Application to their local league. No additional requirements are in place by Little League to become a volunteer.

No experience is required to become a volunteer. Most of the volunteer opportunities require little or no training.  Local leagues will provide any necessary training (as well as support and encouragement), and Little League University is the go-to resource for everything a volunteer needs to know. The best volunteers are those who are able to bring added enjoyment to the game simply be being themselves.

On rare occasions, Little League, through District Administrators and local Board of Directors, may deny individuals the privilege of volunteering for reasons, past or present, which may be detrimental to the positive development of young people, other volunteers, and/or Little League International. When applying to become a volunteer, individuals give the local Little League organization permission to conduct all necessary background checks.
